The 2016 Golden Globes field of nominees is a competitive one for both movies and television alike, as evidenced by the sheer number of highly critically-acclaimed titles - further compounded by the lack of a clear front-runner in a number of instances - that are vying to take home a top prize(s) during the event. Ricky Gervais has returned to host the 73rd Annual Golden Globes awards ceremony, over the course of which the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will reveal their picks for the best of the best on the big and small screen alike in 2015.
Will bigger-budgeted commercial successes such as Mad Max: Fury Road and The Martian ultimately take home a Golden Globe or more? Can a newcomer television show like Mr. Robot triumph over the longer-running and more seasoned competition, or will the HFPA go with an old favorite like Game of Thrones? These are the questions that surrounded this year’s crop of nominees, heading into the event hosted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
