So a good amount of money can make you relevant in most stories. And anime has seen its fair share of money bag characters. But who are the richest? The true Monopoly men and women of the anime world must be out there. Well let’s figure that out with our list here. They are not specifically ordered by wealth(how could we track that?) although some of the “best” Richie-Richers will come higher on the list.
20. Hanako Honda
Anime: Asobi Asobase As you’ll see in later characters, it’s really hard to determine how rich some characters are. But I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that Hanako’s family is pretty loaded. Firstly, she has a butler. Which is always a good sign. And said butler follows her around constantly and bends to her every whim. So it’s safe to say that there are multiple butlers. Lastly, we’ve seen that Hanako can get just about anything if she asks for it. Even a fully-functioning robot. And I’ll be darned if a person who’s not worth at least a few million is capable of getting that treatment.
19. Yumeko Jabami
Anime: Kakegurui I mean, this show would have been a lot more dull if all the characters weren’t filthy rich. It’s a show about gambling, after all. Yumeko is our protagonist and just a few episodes in we learn a few things about her. Firstly, that she just casually carries over 10 million yen to school. And secondly, that she is an excellent gambler. She just keeps winning and winning with the prize pool usually being in the millions. Although we’re talking about yen, that’s still a boatload of money. Some fans have speculated that her net worth is probably in the hundreds of billions.
18. Ragyō Kiryūin
Anime: Kill la Kill This one is also a bit more subtle when it comes to her wealth. But for sure, absolutely loaded if you think about it. Firstly, she acquires the Life Fiber. A material that must be sought after by every person thirsty for power. She’s on the board of directors for the Academy, which must be a lucrative position. And most of all, she’s CEO of a textile industry which is said to account for 100% of global sales. Comparing that to numbers in the real world, we see it goes anywhere from billions to trillions. So even if she gets just a small cut, she is still more than just well off.
17. Kazuma Satou
Anime: KonoSuba Step aside Benjamin Franklin, a new king of rags to riches is here! It was honestly impossible to see this one coming, as Kazuma literally spends the first half of the series doing manual labor and sleeping in a barn. But in accordance with his nature, he thought of something that no other isekai protagonist has ever thought of and sold a lot of patents for modern technology. This made him the richest adventurer in Axel, with pockets big enough to basically buy Darkness (who is a noble by the way) and give Megumin very expensive toys to blow things up with.
16. Sinbad
Anime: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic I generally avoided kings on here, as it seems like a cheap shot. Plus we can’t always know how much of the kingdom’s wealth is truly theirs. Sinbad, however, made it a lot easier. As he’s not only a king, but also a businessman, being the president of the world’s largest trading company. And again, if we compare it to our world’s trade giants we can guess a yearly income of at least a few billion dollars. The man also has lots of dungeon treasure. So he couldn’t go broke even if he tried.
15. Touichirou Suzuki
Anime: Mob Psycho 100 I know, also quite the shot in the dark since his wealth was never directly stated. We do, however, have a few points to go off of. Firstly, he establishes Claw: an esper terrorist organization that was set to take over the world. Since I doubt that he would get government funding for such a task, it must have all been out of pocket. And that goes with our second piece of evidence: that he stated he has never regretted a single decision he has ever made. This makes it very likely that his business ventures were more than just lucrative.
14. Denki Kaminarimon
Anime: Boruto
Although we as an audience might be torn on the introduction of technology into the Naruto universe, one thing is for certain: it made Denki’s family pretty rich.
We never get any exact numbers. But it’s said that it has a complete monopoly in the Leaf as far as trains are concerned, along with other modern electronics more than likely.
This should theoretically put them in the billions range, as we see the characters interact with handheld games, televisions, and the like.
So it shouldn’t be too far off from modern conglomerates.
13. Ōkuninushi
Anime: Noragami Aragoto This one is pure speculation, but I think it has a good basis. Ōkuninushi or Daikokuten is one of the gods of fortune within Noragami. In particular, he’s the god of farming, commerce, nation-building… all things associated with them dolla dolla bills. So if I had to take a wild guess, I would say this man gets a lot (and I mean a lot) of shrine visits and donations, making him rather rich in the process. This would also make sense given how powerful he is. So besides looking like a slim Guy Fieri and having a bunny as a pet, I think Okuninushi is also sleeping on a pretty large sum of money.
12. Ainz Ooal Gown
Anime: Overlord This pick definitely falls under the “king” category. However it’s a bit easier to tell how rich Ainz himself is. That’s because the Great Tomb of Nazarick is basically Ainz’s property, since the rest of his party are NPCs all programmed to be at his call. The tomb itself is pretty massive, around 200 meters across. And it carries a lot of expensive loot. It was basically the endgame level when it was still, well… a game. So factoring in all the rare items, the gold and the tomb itself, I think it’s no exaggeration to say that Ainz is the richest being in his own universe.
11. Roswaal L. Mathers
Anime: Re: Zero With Roswaal it’s pretty simple: his house is absolutely ridiculous. I say house, but it is a mansion with seemingly countless rooms, a giant entrance, and who knows what else. At one point it’s suggested that the people from a neighboring village all come to the mansion for safety. And if your mansion can fit an entire village then you’re truly just flexing on us. The house also needs at least two people to constantly clean it, just so that it doesn’t become a wreck. Anastasia Hoshin could have also filled this spot, but too little is known about her.
10. Kuusuke Saiki
Anime: The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Kuusuke could have easily been the richest man in the world, had he wanted to. This is because he’s the most brilliant inventor of his, and our, universe. Not only did he discover a way to control his brother’s powers. But he also built some jetpacks, robot suits, and even a time machine at one point. Although it’s unclear just how much he himself makes, I think the fact he has the materials needed to pull off such lavish stunts shows he definitely has a few giant backers. I mean, he was influential enough to start World War III at one point. So he is not just talk.
9. Rumiho Akiha (Faris NyanNyan)
Anime: Steins;Gate Faris has some serious papa money. It came with a lot of sadness, but the point still stands. Our first hint at her wealth was the discovery that she single-handedly brought moe to their town. As you might imagine, that isn’t really a simple thing to do. And then we learn that the entire electronics district is in her family’s domain. Now that is some serious cash flow. Through the alternative timeline where her father is alive, we see that her living conditions are also ridiculous, nya nya.
8. Kayaba Akihiko
Anime: Sword Art Online Akihiko was the creator of SAO and therefore either rich out of his mind, or financially irresponsible as hell. I can’t believe I’m going to quote a YouTuber in one of these, but Matpat calculated that the creation of SAO must have cost (at the very least) half a billion dollars. So he must have had some pretty serious cash to begin with. But even outside of that, considering that Facebook bought Oculus for $2 billion (and let’s face it, quality-wise it has nothing on SAO) Akihiko certainly must have made some serious bank to get this game up.
7. Bulma
Anime: Dragon Ball A monopoly on everything hi-tech is a pretty good position to be in, isn’t it? Like seriously, it’s hard to even fathom how much Capsule Corp is worth, considering how little care they have about anything. They give out space ships like it’s nothing. It never matters whether you brought them back or destroyed them. Their logo is on just about everything more complex than a stick, and they haven’t even hit their stride yet, given how they’re going to create a time travel machine later on. Maybe Vegeta finally figured out that with enough money he could be the prince of any place he damn well wants.
6. Seto Kaiba
Anime: Yu-Gi-Oh! I will never get why this man even bothered with any Blue-eyes White Dragons, when he could have just thrown money at his opponent until the surrendered. He’s valued at one billion, but I honestly think he has ever more than that. Considering how even in his youth he was capable of turning a small loan of a million dollars into a $100 million cash pile, I’m certain he’s at the very peak of the one percent. Still not the king of games but he can always screw the rules, as the saying goes.
5. Mina Tepes
Anime: Dance In The Vampire Bund Mina might just be the richest anime character if I’m being frank. She has bought an island, which MrBeast showed us is no cheap task. But more than that, the mad lass paid off the debt for an entire country. That’s right, while most of us can’t even pay off college debt, Mina is out here covering the entirety of Japan. Which amounts to about 40 trillion yen. And even after that, she doesn’t seem poor. Like not in the slightest, she is very much still living her best life.
4. Robert E. O. Speedwagon
Anime: Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure Out of all the characters on this list, this man probably has the most realistic climb to wealth: being that he simply found oil in America. And we all know how lucrative the oil business is. So he founded the Speedwagon Foundation, which seems to have more than its fair share of funds. By leading lots of expeditions(like the one for the Pillar men) as well as sending submarines, planes, and cars whenever the main cast is in a pinch, it’s evident that the foundation is sitting on a rather big budget.
3. Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald
Anime: Bungo Stray Dogs I’ve mentioned how money makes Batman a superhero. But Francis really takes that mentality to a whole new level. Because his power is literally connected to his money, by allowing him to increase his strength in proportion to how much money he’s willing to give up. And he was in the millions (if not billions) at the height of his power. But the thing is, even once he spent it all, we have seen that it only took a couple episodes for him to acquire new sources of income. He’s basically capitalism: the person.
2. Kaguya Shinomiya
Anime: Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War Kaguya represents the exact opposite of our last pick, as it seems that her wealth was actually her greatest downfall. She’s the daughter of one of the richest men in Japan, which by today’s standards puts his net worth at least over 4 billion. She was sheltered her entire life and barely knew how to interact with people that weren’t paid to be in her presence. Might be harsh, but I would gladly take that weakness upon myself if I’m being honest.
1. Ciel Phantomhive
Anime: Black Butler
Has a butler, check.
Butler is amazing at everything, unrelated but check.
His family name alone can get him out of any danger, check.
He starts working for the Queen and somehow brings in even more money, check.
I think it’s safe to say that Ciel could pull off a Scrooge McDuck and just swim in money if he truly wanted to.
