It was the game the franchise needed to bring it back to the forefront of the open world genre. And Ubisoft hasn’t looked back since. Modding can bring new life to Origins, especially for veterans of the series getting back into this title. But even if you’re looking to start a new AC adventure, Origins can still be a whole lot of fun with mods. Here’s our list of some of the best out there.
15. AC Origins Graphics Mod
Check Out This Mod AC Origins is already one of the best-looking AC games without question. But this AC Origins Graphics Mod is actually a port of a popular GTA 5 graphics mod, and we all know how mods took GTA 5’s graphics to a completely new level of crazy. Well this does the same with AC Origins, and everything just looks stunning. Check it out for yourself and see what you think.
14. Origins Effects and Interface Customization Mod
Check Out This Mod One of the things fans didn’t particularly enjoy about Origins were the new weapon effects. Or at least there was a mixed reaction from the fandom. While there are mods to remove these effects, KameIMan’s mod gives you a whole set of customizable options to tweak the game’s visuals. This allows you to remove exactly what you don’t want to see. You’ll be able to toggle things like loot glow, weapon trails, headshot flashes, and smoke effects.
13. Better Icons
Check Out This Mod This next one is a great addition even if you’re playing through the game for the first time. Better Icons improves quality of life by making the map icons much more visible, making it much easier to find what you’re looking for around the world. The mod affects icons for everything from quests, undiscovered locations, weavers, blacksmiths, and stables, bringing them closer to the icons from AC2.
12. AC Origins Inventory Editor
Check Out This Mod This next one is a bit of a cheat mod, but it’s a great way to go around and have some fun in the Origins world. Especially if you’ve already finished your first serious playthrough. AC Origins Inventory Editor gives you complete control over your inventory, allowing you to instantly gain access to however much you want of whatever item you can think of in the game. I think it speaks for itself, right?
11. Ornate Assassin Outfit – Egyptian Hedj Replacer
Check Out This Mod There are tons of different outfit options for Bayek in AC Origins. And the Egyptian Hedj outfit has become one of the more popular choices. Modder Foedawg decided to add his own flavor to the outfit with this mod, making for a much cleaner, more refined look. The mod makes the Egyptian Hedj outfit look newer, less dirty, and less baggy overall, to give Bayek a traditional assassin look.
10. True Desert Raider – Skin Retexture
Check Out This Mod It’s funny how games can make kinda “meh” items pretty hard to obtain. Such is the case with AC Origin’s Savannah Marauder outfit, which you could get from any tailor, but will cost more than other outfits. I mean, the Leopard cloth on Bayek’s shoulder just looks weird against the green and gold neckpiece. Modder nfcintra felt that it was a bit over the top as well, so he replaced it with his own True Desert Raider outfit. This mod simplifies the outfit quite a bit, giving it a much more worn out look. As if it had been used by someone wandering the deserts. And it even comes with rusty equipment to add to the overall beaten look of it.
9. Persian Assassin Armor
Check Out This Mod Add another 500 drachmae and you’ll be able to get yourself the Persian Leader outfit from any tailor in Egypt. Modder alqah shares his own take on the outfit, giving it a more elegant makeover from the original. This set actually removes as much of the armor as possible, allowing for much more of the garb to show through. The remaining armor swaps out the original reddish bronze pieces with silver as well, giving it that elegant look we all long for.
8. White Hood
Check Out This Mod Obtaining the Black Hood outfit isn’t quite as easy as taking your drachmae to your nearest tailor. To avoid spoilers I won’t give away the details, but I will say it’s definitely worth tracking down. This outfit is one of the more unique options in the game, and as the name states, it gives Bayek a makeover in black. Black cloaks just don’t feel very Assassin’s Creed though… so if you’re looking for something a bit more usual to the series, the White Hood will give you exactly that. This mod swaps out the black and gold aesthetic for a more traditional white and silver color scheme.
7. Shadow Warrior – Follower of Khepri Overcoat
Check Out This Mod Now this next one is interesting, as it introduces a whole new level of ancient Egyptian history to one of the less common outfits in AC Origins. The Shadow Warrior outfit is a bit more difficult to get a hold of. But if you’re able to, then one of the first things you might notice is the overcoat with the eagle logo on it. Modder nfcintra’s Shadow Warrior adds some flavor to the outfit by replacing the overcoat completely, giving you a black overcoat with the ancient Egyptian god Khepri etched on it.
6. Greek Hedj Outfit
Check Out This Mod One more replacement here for the Egyptian Hedj outfit, this time changing the look and feel of the set entirely. The Greek Hedj outfit is inspired by Greek-Egyptian color patterns, as seen in the blue and orange highlights. The robes are less white as well, making it much easier on the eyes overall. And the Eye of Horus etching on the belt buckle adds a nice touch to personalize the outfit further.
5. Black Abstergo Trooper
Check Out This Mod Abstergo Troopers have been in Assassin’s Creed games for quite some time. And their uniforms have changed across the different games as well. Many agree that the most badass uniform was the one from the more recent AC Odyssey, where they were pretty much just blacked out. Well this mod brings that same look to AC Origins, so the Sigma Team Troopers will be dressed completely in black, as they appeared in AC Odyssey.
4. Thomas de Carneillon Outfit
Check Out This Mod Thomas de Carneillon was a French banker and master assassin first introduced in AC Unity. We weren’t given much exposure to him as a playable character, but given his history and huge contributions to the order, many fans were left wanting more. This mod lets you do that by giving you access to his armor set. It replaces Altaïr’s outfit with Thomas’ taking its place. Not much, but definitely something!
3. Chinese Assassin Outfit
Check Out This Mod As we’ve seen from the many AC games through the years, there are assassins scattered pretty much all over the world. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China introduced Shao Jun, showing us yet another completely different side of the order than what we’ve seen in other games. Modder Foedawg brings that back to AC Origins with his Chinese Assassin Outfit mod, replacing the Egyptian Wahid outfit with one inspired by Shao Jun’s.
2. Captain America Shield And Modern Themed Outfit
Check Out This Mod If you’re looking for something a bit more modern, this next one might do the trick. Who ever thought we’d see an Assassin’s Creed x Marvel crossover? Well modder BHAVYAPRASHANT makes it possible here, replacing Aguilar’s outfit with a blue cloak, as well as the Phalanx Shield with Captain America’s. And it’s totally usable in-game too. Nice, right?
1. Prince of Persia Outfit
Check Out This Mod The Prince of Persia games are often credited for pioneering many of the parkour elements we see in modern games. Assassin’s Creed has been called a spiritual successor to the series as well, so this last mod is a cool nod to the past from creator SoulSif. This mod retextures the original Persian Prince outfit to bring it closer to the outfits seen in Prince of Persia, taking inspiration from the different titles within the series, as well as the film based on the games.
